Building a Healthier Easter Basket
Sunday, April 1, 2012
Next to Halloween, Easter is the second biggest candy giving holiday. But some of the top sweets can wreak havoc on your diet.
- Substitute healthy snacks for the sugary ones found in a traditional Easter basket. Give your children yogurt-covered raisins, dried fruit, trail mix, cereal, pretzels, a few jelly beans and homemade treats.
- Add items other than food in baskets as well, like toys, books, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, games, paints, crayons and coloring books.
- Arrange various kinds of seed packets with some gardening tools so your child can plant flowers or vegetables and watch them grow. Spring is a great time for your children to pick up gardening as a new hobby.
